September 9, 2011 The Prince Hotel Shin Yokohama
Fortune had it that I was given the opportunity to witness the wedding ceremony of a long time student turned long time dear friend, Yayoi.
She even took the time to make me a procession card and menu written in English. She even had a different dish and drink especially for me, since I don’t drink coffee and am allergic to shellfish. I was touched to say the least, that she did all this in my behalf.
That aside, I was very happy when I first heard that she had found someone to commit and share a life with. It all happened very quickly as I recall. It was only last autumn that she was introduced to Yuichi through an acquaintance of her mother. Post first meeting she had shared her discontent with not finding someone to build a loving stable relationship with. She had tried, but there was always something that wasn’t right.
I remember her telling me about being nervous meeting this guy on a blind date. She really had no idea who he was apart from his career and eagerness to be married. I didn’t see her for a month maybe more. When we finally do meet up again she said that they’re good together and they’re planning on getting married! I could tell she was genuinely happy and that this was the real deal. She was 100% confident about this union and so it happened. They got married in the winter of 2011 I believe, a paper wedding.
Seeing a wedding ceremony as beautiful as Yuichi and Yayoi’s made me want to get married, for moment. Then I thought, first I have to meet the right girl. “WHERE ARE YOU”!!!
